DC Anantnag visits Yatra Transit Camps

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, (Yatra Officer Pahalgam Axis), Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat today made an extensive tour to Yatra Transit Camps, FCI Godown Mir Bazaar and Walnut Factory, Qazigund and took first hand stock of arrangements and facilities that have been made for ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.

At both Transit Camps, the concerned officers informed the DC that arrangements for amenities including toilets, health care, drinking water, power supply and bedding are underway and the same will be completed well before the commencement of Yatra.

Taking first hand stock of the facilities, the DC called for provision of quality toilets in requisite numbers and parking areas with proper lighting facilities at all places. He further directed to install an efficient drainage system besides preparing space for langars and repairing the paths.

Dr. Bilal further directed officers of line departments to augment the services and ensure every facility committed will be provided to the pilgrims. He emphasized that proper supply of water be provided to the langars and toilets besides ensuring ininterrupted supply of electricity, proper cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene of the transit camps.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner made a thorough inspection of Yatri Niwas, Subhanpora Bijbehara to review it's physical and logistical readiness for the Yatra. It was informed that the project, executed under the aegis of ONGC, has the capacity to accommodate 1,500 pilgrims and will be utilized to facilitate the stay of Yatris, as per requirement.

On the occasion, the DC took a detailed stock of various works being executed to make the facility operational and ready for accommodating pilgrims during the upcoming Yatra. He issued on spot directions to the concerned executing agencies and departments to ensure timely completion of all pending works and making the venue fully functional for the Yatris.

The DC was accompanied by both ADCs, SDM Dooru, SEs KPDCL and Jal Shakti, Senior Officers from Police, CAHO, AC Food Safety, Exens R&B, KPCL and PHE, Medical Officers, Tehsildars, BDOs, EOs of MCs, Officers from ONGC and other concerned officials.
