A meeting of the State Quality Assurance Committee (SQAC) was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Secretary Health, U.T. Chandigarh Administration, to review the progress of Quality Certification across health facilities in UT Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh; Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health Services-cum-MD, NHM; Dr. Ravneet Kaur, Director Principal, GMCH-32; representatives of various health facilities, the Engineering Department and other Committee members.

During the meeting, the Secretary Health reviewed the achievement of National Quality Certification by five health facilities, including District Hospital, GMSH-16, which secured an impressive score of 96.29%. He also reviewed the State Quality Certification awarded to 11 health facilities and termed it a significant milestone in strengthening healthcare service delivery in Chandigarh.

The Secretary Health emphasized that while the present scores are encouraging, the ultimate objective is to secure National Accreditation for all public health facilities in U.T. Chandigarh. To achieve this goal, he directed all concerned departments to prepare and implement time-bound action plans for bridging the existing infrastructure and service gaps.

He further instructed the Engineering Department to undertake all necessary engineering-related works in close coordination with the State Quality Cell to ensure that infrastructure requirements are fulfilled as per the prescribed standards for National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) Certification.
