The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in line with the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government, has apprehended Patwari Harmanjeet Singh posted at revenue office Kattu Sub-tehsil Dhanaula district Barnala for accepting a bribe Rs. 4000/-.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a resident of village Kattu district Barnala on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line portal. He said that the complainant had taken a loan against his cultivable land from Punjab Gramin Bank and repaid his entire loan to the bank. In this regard, Complainant alleged that accused Patwari demanded bribe of Rs. 5000/- in lieu of making entry in land record regarding clearance of Bank loan. Complainant had recorded entire conversation of demanding bribe.

In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against  the accused at VB Police Station Patiala. Further investigation into this case is underway, he added.
