The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in line with the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government, has apprehended Paramjit Singh, Science Master cum Legal Advisor, Government Senior Secondary School, Kapurthala, for demanding a bribe, for allotting psychometric testing to Satinder Bir Singh's firm, Edurise Enterprise.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by Satinder Bir Singh, a retired District Education Officer on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line portal. He said that the during the verification of a complaint, it was found that the complainant had started a company named Edurise Enterprise in Amritsar to conduct psychometric tests for school students after his retirement.

The complainant had submitted his company's file to the District Education Officer (Secondary), Kapurthala, seeking approval to conduct psychometric testing of 187 girl students studying in 14 Government schools under Block Bholath, Kapurthala, for the academic session 2025-26. Thereafter, Paramjit Singh, Science Master-cum-Legal Advisor, Government Senior Secondary School, Kapurthala, posted in the office of the District Education Officer (Secondary), allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 200 per girl student, which was later reduced to Rs. 150 per girl student, in the name of the District Education Officer.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Government pays Rs. 700 per girl student to the company for conducting the said test. According to the recordings submitted by the complainant, the allegations against the accused were found to be true, he added.

In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against  the accused at VB Police Station Jalandhar. The role of other suspected officer/employees will also be examined during the investigation of the case.

Further investigation into this case is underway, he added.
