A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh, with all stake holders to review the preparedness and key agenda points related to the forthcoming Census exercise. Emphasizing the critical importance of the Census, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that it is one of the most significant national activities, forming the backbone of evidence-based policymaking and planning.

The accuracy and reliability of Census data directly impact the formulation of various government policies, welfare schemes, and developmental initiatives. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the preparedness of the field machinery, timelines, and operational strategies to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.

Special focus was laid on the capacity building of enumerators, who play a pivotal role in data collection. The Deputy Commissioner stressed that high-quality training of enumerators is essential to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data.

It was directed that comprehensive and structured training sessions be conducted, covering all operational, technical, and practical aspects of enumeration. The importance of sensitizing enumerators towards their responsibilities and equipping them with proper understanding of procedures was also underscored.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to all residents to actively participate in the Census process by opting for self-enumeration, which will commence from 16th April 2026. Citizens were encouraged to utilize this facility to ensure accurate and timely submission of their information.

All concerned departments and officers were instructed to work in close coordination and ensure that the Census operations are carried out efficiently, transparently, and within the stipulated timelines.
