Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Vipul Goel, has issued directions to impose an immediate ban on the opening of meat shops near sensitive locations within all municipal areas of the state during the auspicious occasion of Navratri.
The Minister said that under the provisions of the Haryana Municipal Act, 1976, and the Regulation of Sale of Meat Act, a complete prohibition has been enforced on the opening of meat shops in the vicinity of religious places, places of worship, and educational institutions. He further clarified that no meat shop can be opened without prior permission from the licensing authority of the concerned local body.
Sh. Vipul Goel said that these orders have been issued to ensure the maintenance of peace and law and order in urban areas during the Navratri period. As per the directions, it will be mandatory to obtain permission from the licensing authority for opening meat shops in municipal areas during Navratri. Strict action will be taken against those who operate such shops without obtaining the required permission.
The Minister further directed that all municipal officers must put in place robust arrangements for regular monitoring of meat shops in their respective municipal areas and ensure strict compliance with these orders. Any violation of the issued directions will not be tolerated, and stringent action will be taken against those found negligent or in breach of the orders.
