The Energy Management Cell (EMC) / State Designated Agency (SDA), established under the Engineering Department, U.T. Chandigarh, has launched a Tip Sheet and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on the Energy Conservation & Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC) to promote awareness among citizens, building owners, architects, and engineers regarding energy-efficient and sustainable building practices.

The document has been jointly prepared by the EMC/SDA, Chandigarh and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). The Tip Sheet and FAQs were formally launched by Ms. Prerna Puri, Secretary Engineering, Chandigarh Administration. Sh. Saurabh Kumar Arora, Joint Secretary (Estate), Chandigarh Administration, and Sh. C.B. Ojha, Chief Engineer, U.T. Chandigarh, were also present on the occasion.

The Tip Sheet provides simple and practical guidance on energy-efficient building design, adoption of sustainable practices, and the use of energy-efficient appliances in residential and commercial buildings. The FAQs address commonly raised queries related to the Energy Conservation & Sustainable Building Code, its objectives, and the benefits of adopting energy-efficient building practices.

It was highlighted that these documents will play an important role in helping stakeholders understand the provisions of ECSBC in a simple manner and will assist builders, architects, and other stakeholders in complying with the prescribed norms while promoting energy conservation and sustainability in Chandigarh.
