Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s OSD Sukhveer Singh today addressed a series of election rallies across the villages of Bhullarheri, Bhalwan, Ladda, Kanjhla, Baliyan, Katron, and Ghanauri Kalan in Dhuri constituency, urging support for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates contesting the upcoming Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
A large number of enthusiastic villagers participated, signaling strong support for AAP candidates. Chairman of Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation Dalvir Singh Dhillon and Chairman, Market Committee Dhuri, Rajwant Singh Ghulli, along with a significant number of AAP volunteers, were also present.
Addressing the gatherings, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Aam Aadmi Party government has accorded highest priority to rural development, as villages form the backbone of Punjab’s economy. He said that the widening and strengthening of link roads in villages is being executed on a war footing to boost the pace of progress. In addition, sports stadiums and libraries have been established in rural areas on the pattern of urban infrastructure to ensure the physical and mental well-being of children and youth.
Appealing to the public to vote for AAP candidates in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections, he said that strengthening grassroots governance will help accelerate development and ensure better facilities in every village. CM’s OSD Sukhveer Singh, while addressing the rallies, said that initiatives such as Aam Aadmi Clinics and Schools of Eminence have brought high-quality health and education facilities to rural residents, reflecting Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to balanced and inclusive development.
He added that projects worth several thousand crores will be rolled out in the coming months to further enhance rural infrastructure and generate employment opportunities for youth. He said that Zila Parishads and Block Samitis play a crucial role in rural development, and therefore people must participate wholeheartedly in these elections to strengthen the AAP government’s developmental agenda.
Cheema and Sukhveer Singh appealed for the victory of AAP’s Zila Parishad candidates from Dhuri constituency—Harjinder Singh Kanjhla (Baliyan Zone), Jasmeet Kaur Chahal (Ghanauri Kalan Zone), and Rachhpal Singh (Mimansa Zone)—along with Panchayat Samiti candidates Jaswinder Kaur, Sukhmanvir Singh, Harpreet Singh, Joginder Singh, Rano, Jasveer Kaur, Ranjodh Singh, Swaranjeet Kaur, Harjinder Kaur, Jaspal Kaur, Jagseer Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Amandeep Kaur, Kurshaied, Ranjeet Singh, Balwinder Singh, Amardeep Singh, Amritpal Singh, Harpreet Kaur, Gurjeet Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Gurmeet Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Karamjit Kaur, Lakhwinder Kaur and Parmjeet Kaur.
They said that once elected, these candidates would secure major grants from the government to expedite development works in their respective areas. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Dalvir Singh Dhillon and Rajwant Singh Ghulli said that the development seen in the last nearly four years will gain even greater momentum after the formation of new Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis.
They said every village in Dhuri is witnessing rapid developmental activities and that the constituency will soon emerge as a model of rural progress. A large number of local residents, volunteers, and dignitaries including Waqf Board member Anwar Bhassaur, Satinder Singh, Sugarfed Director Jaspal Singh Bhullar, Director Anil Mittal, and Sarpanch Davinder Singh Dhura attended the rallies.
