Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr T Benith today conducted checking of the ongoing work on laying of Chananwal- Gehal Road and Dhanaula -Bhathal Road. Deputy Commissioner said that as per the instructions of Punjab government, the quality and pace of work as checked to ensure good quality of roads. 

He warned the concerned authorities to face strict legal action if any sample of road was found not adhering to the quality norms and standards of the government. He added that ⁠if any sample is found to be failing quality norms, then penalty and legal action will be imposed against the contractor. 

He added that ⁠no negligence by any officials will be tolerated. Mr Benith said that fixing the responsibility to ensure quality work, the concerned supervisory officers will be held responsible and disciplinary action will be initiated against them. He informed that the project on laying Thikriwal to Chananwal to Gehal to Diwana to Hathoor up to MC limit road is being worked upon. 

The total cost of project is Rs 414.32 lacs. Deputy Commissioner stated that the ADCs and SDMs will check works taken up by all line departments including works of PWD, ⁠mandi board, panchayati raj, ⁠Improvement Trust, urban local bodies and BDPOs.
