Taking serious notice of paddy stubble found burning in certain areas of the district due to dereliction of duty by the concerned officials, the Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr T Benith has issued notices to naib tehsildar, DSP and SHO. During the inspection conducted today, fire incidents were found in the areas allocated to the three authorities.

Giving this information here today he stated that the district administration was on toes to ensure that not even single paddy straw field is set on fire. Various administrative officials and employees have been working round the clock and keeping a strict vigil on the fields.

He added that 37 FIRs have been registered in the cases of paddy stubble burning and 37 red entries have been done in the revenue records (khasra girdawari) of the farmers in whose field the stubble was found burning. Apart from this Rs 1.95 lakh fine has been imposed on the errants. 

Deputy Commissioner warned that no negligence and dereliction of duty shall be tolerated at any point of time. He called upon the government officers and employees to work diligently towards ensuring that not even single farm fire incidence happens. 

He called upon farmers to adopt ecofriendly methods of paddy stubble management instead of falling for short term measures like putting stubble on fire. Meanwhile, during inspection conducted today, Deputy Commissioner Mr T Benith came across fire incidents and helped the fire brigade in dousing the flames. 

He visited villages Kaleke, Kotdunn etc today, ADC Madam Anuprita Johal inspected the villages Dangarh, Uppali, Bhathalan and Harigarh.
