District administration Barnala is tirelessly working to ensure paddy stubble is not burnt in any part of the district in strict compliance with the orders of Punjab government for safer environment. The district currently has 85 balers working to collect the stubble from across the farms to store stubble at 14 dump sites.
Already police and civil officers are visiting agriculture farms motivating farmers to manage stubble instead of burning it. Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr T Benith said while talking to farmers at village Chhiniwal Kalan cooperative society. SSP Barnala Mr Sarfaraz Aalam accompanied him.
Deputy Commissioner visited five villages including Wajidke Khurd, Bhaddalvad, Wajidke Kalan, Hamidi and Sanghera where he talked to the farmers and motivated them to make maximum use of government provided agriculture implements for managing paddy stubble. He added that currently 85 balers are working to pick the paddy bundles and drop them at 14 designated dumping sites.
The administration has got dumps set up withing the jurisdiction of Barnala district and has also made tie ups with dump sites in nearby districts. The 14 dumping sites include those located at village Chananwal, Handiaya, Tajoke, Rureke Khurd, Harigarh, Kotdunna, Dhaula, Gill Kothe (Sehna), Bhadaur, Gehal, Bhaini Jassa, Naiwala Road, Joga in district Mansa and Panjgrain in district Sangrur.
He said that if any farmer faces any kind of problem, he should get in touch with the concerned cluster and nodal officer. Also the police department officers and employees are regularly visiting fields with the civil officers to ensure that not even a single farm is set on fire.
He added that Unnat Kisan app has also been put into place to ensure that farmers get access to agriculture implements for stubble management at the click of a button. SSP Mr Sarfaraz Alam said that police was keeping an eagle’s eye on the farmers who have harvested their crop.
Government has provided machinery to the farmers to manage paddy stubble. He said that if a farmer faces a problem with the machinery, he can contact the control room (between 11 am to 7 pm) on number 01679-233031 or the block agriculture officer.
He added that no combine harvester should be operated without Super SMS. Harvesting is strictly prohibited between 6 pm to 10. He said that the district administration is also conducting a lucky draw for farmers worth Rs 7 lakhs, for which the farmers can register till October 20.

Those who have already registered themselves should upload their pictures of their farm – one of standing crop, second of the day of harvesting and third one of location where stubble has been stored.
Chief Agriculture Officer Barnala Dr. Harbans Singh Sidhu was also present on the spot.
