The state Government on Tuesday said that it is withdrawing the cases registered against the stone throwers and the amnesty to youth will be announced very soon. While replying to the PDP demand that amnesty be given to stone throwers, National Conference minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said that the government has decided to grant amnesty to the youth who were involved in the stone throwing incidents in the past and that the government is taking measures so that the cases registered against them in the past shall be withdrawn.

Sagar maintained further that chief minister Omar Abdullah will announce the amnesty in near future however; the minister remained tight lipped over the details of the scheme. While speaking in a discussion, PDP senior leader Abdul Rehman Veeri said that the amnesty to the stone throwers is related to the youth and their future and that the party never used to gain votes while raising the issue of the persons who are detained on the grounds of stone throwing.

Veeri added that more than 6000 cases have been registered against the youth by the government while as against 2376 persons, PSA has been slapped. While taking part in the discussion, NC leader Aga Ruhaullah castigated PDP and accused it of having the communal mindset. “They have instigated violence while using the communal card and the demand of discussion over the amnesty, is proving counterproductive to PDP.”

Rahullah said that Omar Abdullah needs to learn politics from PDP as he is a clean hearted person who doesn’t know how to politicize the little issues. NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani said that PDP came to know that Omar Abdullah is granting amnesty to youth due to which the party is raising hue and cry over the issue so that it could float the notion that it was PDP that strived for the same.Sagar, while speaking on the floor accused PDP of blackmailing government officials after its victory in the parliament elections. "You are such blackmailers. You blackmailed the officials, telling them that you are coming (to power after assembly elections). Shall I name the officers you called?" Sagar said.

As the minister was making the revelations, uproar in the House was witnessed but the minister continued with his speech without revealing the names of the government officers.Sagar also claimed that the stone throwers arrested in South Kashmir belong to PDP and the party is instigating violence in the area. Sagar was seconded by Nasir Aslam who said that police records be checked as it is proven that PDP aided that stone throwers.Sagar highlighted the civilian killings allegedly at the hands of security forces in Kashmir during the tenure of PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the Union Home Minister. “You should tell people are you Pro Pakistan, Pro- India, Pro- Kashmir, task force. People want to know who you really are.”

Sagar also accused PDP’s Nizam-ud-Din Bhat of leveling false charges against the chief minister Omar Abdullah in the past. “He accused CM of taking 500 crores , when we registered case against him, he came with his hands joined- saying he was distracted and misguided.”Sagar also accused PDP of Killing Mirwaiz Moulana Farooq. “Before his assassination, Mirwaiz had thrice asked Mufti Saheb to provide him security but he didn’t and then he was assassinated followed by the killing of 80 people during his funeral procession.” (KNS)
