Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain today launched a new novel campaign called ‘Chadhda Sooraj’ to give a shared platform to people and organizations bringing positive change in society. The campaign is led by the district administration and supported by the Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur. It is a digital and social platform to recognize individuals or groups silently doing remarkable work in areas like society, environment, animal welfare, health, education, social justice, and more.
Addressing a press conference at the District Administrative Complex, Ashika Jain said that ‘Charhda Sooraj’ is not just a campaign but a movement that will bring forward real-life heroes whose inspiring stories often go unheard. She said this initiative will connect active changemakers in society so their efforts are appreciated and their experiences inspire others.
She emphasized that anyone can be a changemaker – a student, senior citizen, NGO, social group, self-help group, or any local team working to improve society. Anyone contributing in fields like education, health, environment, animal care, social justice, or community development can be part of this campaign.
She added that this campaign is a big step towards especially engaging and empowering youth. It will motivate young people to take initiative at the local level, tackle civic or climate challenges, and respond in times of crisis. This way, it will help them grow personally and create strong, responsible, and inspiring leadership in society.
Aashika Jain called upon interested individuals and organizations to send photos, videos, or stories of their social work to the district administration’s WhatsApp number 7380090643 or to the Facebook page “Charhda Sooraj.” These entries will be shared on social media to inspire others.
She said that this campaign is not limited to just the district or state but is a larger movement. “Even a small effort can bring big change in society. Share your work, become an inspiration, and contribute to building a better society by joining ‘Charhda Sooraj’,” she said.
Other officials present include Chief Minister’s Field Officer Parampreet Singh, District Education office Lalita Arora, Secretary Red Cross Society Mangesh Sood, and Joint Secretary Aditya Rana.
Students encouraged to take up social responsibilities as part of their holiday task
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain appealed to students of all government, private, and aided schools in the district to become ‘changemakers’. As part of this campaign, she has given a special holiday task along with the regular holiday homework to help bring positive change in society.
She encouraged students to take on small social responsibilities in their area, lane, or village. These can include Running cleanliness drives, Helping differently-abled people,Saving water and electricity, Planting trees and taking care of themor engaging in other community welfare actions.
She asked students to make short video while doing these tasks and send it to the district administration’s WhatsApp number 7380090643 or Facebook page “Charhda Sooraj” by June 30. She said these videos will not only showcase their hard work but also inspire other children.
She said that the students who will do outstanding work will be honored in a district-level event along with their teachers and parents.
