Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday said that Kashmir issue being a political issue needs a political resolution rather than the developmental solution as is being mooted out by the Narendra Modi led union government.Mirwaiz was addressing a seminar here where he observed that Hurriyat Conference is not averse to socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir but the priority must be given to address the Kashmir’s political instability.Hurriyat (M) had organized a seminar titled “Khoon-e-Shaheedan Rang layega” to commemorate the sixth death anniversary of ‘Shaeed-e-Azeemat Sheikh Abdul Aziz’ and all martyrs of Kashmir at the conglomerates headquarters located at Rajbagh.

Mirwaiz said that elections are in a no way any solution to Kashmir issue and those who portray elections as a resolution or referendum are living in fools’ paradise. “Kashmir dispute is an internationally recognized dispute as the UN resolutions stands testimony to this fact,” Mirwaiz added. The seminar which was presided over by the Hurriyat Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, saw participation of senior Hurriyat leaders including, Moulana Abbas Ansari, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Syed Saleem Geelani, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Yameen Raja, and Imtiyaz Reshi paid rich tributes to Aziz and lakhs of other martyrs who laid their lives for the cause. Hakeem Ab. Rashid acted as dice incharge.

Paying rich tributes to Shaeed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz and lakhs of other martyrs, APHC Chairman, in his presidential address, stated that it was the prime responsibility of the conglomerate to take forward the cause for which the Kashmiri leaders and people sacrificed their lives and property till it reaches its goal.Welcoming the proposed talks between India and Pakistan, Mirwaiz stated that the success of talks between the two countries was connected to the solution of Kashmir issue. He stated that the leadership of both nations instead of dealing with secondary issues should focus their energies on the solution of Kashmir issue, the main source of confrontation and tension between the two countries.Mirwaiz stated that both countries should take steps to ensure a composite dialogue including dialogue on Kashmir issue which shall involve all the stake holders so that stability and peace is established in the South Asian region. He stated that India should realize that Kashmir issue could not be solved through military means, neither by the use of force, coercion, bullying, or by taking cosmetic measures like giving people financial concessions. He said Kashmir was a human issue and can be solved only through political means.

According to a statement issued to KNS, APHC Chairman stated that Hurriyat has always advocated the return of Kashmiri Pandits back to their native homes and places, adding, but some elements with communal mindset under the garb of return of Kashmiri Pandits were pursuing their own ulterior political agendas. Under the name of rehabilitation, Mirwaiz stated such elements were exploiting the emotions of Kashmiri Pandits and were on the path of piding Kashmiris on communal lines. He stated that it was the duty of Kashmiri Pundits that instead of becoming part of any dirty politics, they should become part of the promotion of Kashmir’s inclusive culture and do their utmost to maintain the communal bonhomie existing in the region since hundreds of years. He stated that Kashmiri Pandits are inalienable part of Kashmiri society and their return should become a source of cohesion rather than a cause of disruption in the Kashmiri society.Mirwaiz stated that, following a well thought out conspiracy, our youth was being deliberately targeted and pushed towards violence. He stated that in the field of education, trade or business, they were marginalized. He denounced the statement of state Chief Minister asking the youth to adopt non-violent ways to express themselves.

Mirwaiz stated that when the rights of entire Kashmiri leadership and people were being usurped, such suggestion amount to a cruel joke. He stated that Kashmir was an internationally recognized dispute and no sham elections could alter this position or could be substitute to the resolution of Kashmir.Addressing the seminar, senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza paid rich tributes to Sheikh Aziz terming him the leader of masses. He also threw light on Shikeh contribution towards freedom struggle and said the cause for which he offered his life would be taken to logical conclusion.   Senior Hurriyat leaders including Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Adv. Abdul Majid Banday, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Ghulam Mohammad Nagoo, Abdul Manaan Bukhari, Sofi Mushtaq Ahmad, G.N War, and brother of Shiekh Abdul Aziz, Sheikh Abdul Rahim were also present in the seminar.
