Delhi University Wins North Zone Inter-University Chess Women’s Championship 2024-25

Delhi University clinched the championship title in the North Zone Inter-University Chess Women’s Championship 2024-25, hosted by Rayat Bahra University. Panjab University, Chandigarh, secured the runner-up position, while Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and Punjabi University, Patiala, finished third and fourth, respectively. 

These top four teams have qualified for the All-India Inter-University Chess Championship. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor Rayat Bahra University and   Chairman of Rayat Bahra Group, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside Dr. S.K. Bansal, Dean of Academic Affairs, and other senior officials of the university. 

Addressing the participants, Bahra extended his congratulations to the winners and applauded all players for their commitment, discipline, and sportsmanship. Prof. Mahesh Jetly, Director of Sports, commended the dedication and perseverance displayed by the competing teams, highlighting the significance of chess in enhancing strategic thinking and decision-making skills.

The championship concluded on a high note, reaffirming Rayat Bahra University's dedication to fostering sportsmanship and promoting chess as an essential part of university-level competitions.
