Continuing its campaign launched on July 1, 2024, to plant maximum trees in the district till September 30, 2024, the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, Atul Kasana today planted a sapling at Sub Divisional Court Complex, Kharar.
District and Sessions Judge, Atul Kasana said that ‘Van Mahotsav’ is celebrated in the first week of July every year. The theme of ‘Van Mahotsav’ 2024 is “Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam” which conveys to plant a tree in the name of our own beloved mother; an epitome of hope, sacrifice, shelter and blessings, similar to a tree.He encouraged everyone to plant a tree in this Monsoon to commemorate our loved ones so that we can remember them by nurturing a tree.
Reiterating his commitment to contribute towards the conservation of the environment by planting maximum saplings across the district/sub-divisional courts, he said that the District Legal Service Authority would also sensitise the lawyers and the general public visiting courts to contribute to the campaign by planting at least a tree.
On this occasion, Mrs Parul, Incharge, Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division)–cum-Chairperson, Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Kharar said that these trees have been planted as part of the campaign to plant the maximum number of trees in the District to reduce the negative impact of global warming erupted due to increased industrialization, urbanization and large-scale cutting of trees. At the same time, Members of the Bar Association, Kharar, Forest Department, Punjab and other Non-Governmental Organizations also joined this campaign.
