The first round of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was held in the presence of political representatives at the District Administrative Complex. The randomisation was conducted in the presence of District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney, Additional District Election Officer Major Amit Sareen, and others in Bachat Bhawan.
District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that a total of 2,921 polling booths would be set up in the assembly constituencies of the district on which EVMs, as well as VVPAT machines, would be installed based on the number of this allocation. EVMs and VVPAT machines at par with the number of polling booths were randomised yesterday, and additional Control Units, Ballot Units, and VVPATs were also kept on reserve that can be used in case of any machine malfunctions.
Sawhney further explained that after today's randomisation, the EVMs and VVPATs would be shifted to Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to the strong rooms in their respective constituencies. The representatives of various political parties were also shown the randomisation process of EVM and VVPAT machines.
They were also briefed on the next level of randomisation that would be held under the supervision of the Election Observer. The District Election Officer also informed the political parties about the schedule of filing nominations from May 7 to 14.

ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਾਨਿਕ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ (ਈ.ਵੀ.ਐਮ.) ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੀ ਰੈਂਡਮਾਈਜ਼ੇਸ਼ਨ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਬੱਚਤ ਭਵਨ ਵਿਖੇ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ, ਵਧੀਕ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਮੇਜਰ ਅਮਿਤ ਸਰੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੈਂਡਮਾਈਜ਼ੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗਈ।
ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੱਲ 2,921 ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥ ਬਣਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਈ.ਵੀ.ਐਮਜ਼ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਵੀ.ਵੀ. ਪੈਟ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਲਗਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ। ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਈ.ਵੀ.ਐਮ. ਅਤੇ ਵੀ.ਵੀ. ਪੈਟ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਰੈਂਡਮਾਈਜੇਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਧੂ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਯੂਨਿਟਾਂ, ਬੈਲਟ ਯੂਨਿਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੀ.ਵੀ.ਪੈਟ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਖਰਾਬੀ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਰੈਂਡਮਾਈਜ਼ੇਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਈ.ਵੀ.ਐਮ. ਅਤੇ ਵੀ.ਵੀ. ਪੈਟ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਰਿਟਰਨਿੰਗ ਅਫਸਰਾਂ (ਏ.ਆਰ.ਓ) ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਟਰਾਂਗ ਰੂਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਈ.ਵੀ.ਐਮ. ਅਤੇ ਵੀ.ਵੀ. ਪੈਟ ਮਸ਼ੀਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੈਂਡਮਾਈਜ਼ੇਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਗਈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਣ ਅਬਜ਼ਰਵਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਹੇਠ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਗਲੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਦੀ ਰੈਂਡਮਾਈਜੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ 7 ਤੋਂ 14 ਮਈ ਤੱਕ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀਆਂ ਭਰਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
