Chandigarh's Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), in a collaborative effort with its Department of Production & Industrial Engineering and the Workshop and Skill Development Centre, has inaugurated an enlightening one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) named "Digital Transformation for IT Enabled Supply Chain: Importance and Applications (DTSCIA-24)." This pivotal event, supported by AICTE-ATAL, spans from February 12 to February 17, 2024, and aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge and skills in the realm of digital supply chain management.

The inauguration ceremony saw Dr. Vanita Ahuja, Director of NID Kurukshetra, gracing the event as the Chief Guest, with Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Setia, Director of PEC Chandigarh, emphasizing the critical role of supply chains in contemporary market dynamics.

The FDP is orchestrated by Dr. Mohit Tyagi and Professor R.S. Walia, with Dr. Rahul O Vaishya, Dr. Jimmy Karloopia, and Dr. Jasvinder Singh as co-coordinators, spotlighting the urgency for digital adaptation in the ever-evolving business environment.

The program underlines the significance of integrating Information Technology to boost supply chain efficiency, leaning towards digital methodologies to replace outdated manual processes. Prof. R.M. Belokar, the Head of the Production & Industrial Engineering Department, introduced the initiative, marking the department's influence in industry research and engineering.

Participants will delve into the transformative potential of Industry 4.0 technologies—such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and big data—in remodelling supply chain management via sophisticated algorithms and business analytics tools. The FDP is designed as a dynamic forum for the dissemination and exchange of ideas, fostering a comprehensive understanding of IT's critical role in digitalizing the supply chain landscape.

Addressing both the opportunities and challenges associated with the adoption of these technologies, the program aims to prepare industrial and systems engineers to leverage this knowledge effectively for organizational benefit. Esteemed speakers from prestigious institutions such as IITs, NITs, and from the industry are set to contribute their expertise on a wide range of relevant topics.

Dr. Mohit Tyagi presented an overview of the event, emphasizing its objectives and significance in the current digital era, while Prof. R.S. Walia extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all contributors and sponsors. The FDP promises to be a valuable experience for attendees from various institutions, offering significant insights into tackling the challenges of today's digital landscape.
