While terming the UNO an Important contact link between the countries of the world, chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Sayed Ali Geelani said that its role with regard to Kashmir dispute is a historical fact and it can nether be neglected nor can it be termed unnecessary.Terming the closure of UN office in Delhi as stupidity of the new government of India, he said that reality can’t be changed by turning the face away from it. In a statement to CNS, the pro-freedom leader of Kashmir said although no progress with regard to the resolution of the Kashmir issue have been made from past six decades yet the UNO still provides a strong base for the peaceful, democratic and practicable solution of this issue and the 18 resolutions present in its charter doesn’t only accept the right to self determination of the people of Kashmir but this institution also advocates the restoration of this right to its people. He said that the Kashmir dispute was taken to the UNO by India itself which have created a role for UNO in this dispute. The office of the peace keeping mission of the UNO was established here with the consent of both India and Pakistan and its presence in this trouble-tone region of the world is very essential.
Geelani said that the role of UNO in Kashmir issue is an admitted fact and denying its role can lead to the disastrous situation. It will not only add to the tension between the two nuclear armed neighbors but it will also increase the political uncertainty and instability into the entire South Asian region. The anarchy will spread in the sub continent and India can’t remain unaffected due to its negative impacts. Hurriyat chairman said that closing down the UN office in Delhi proves that the new government of India is immature and unbalanced and they are acting in haste and it is an emotional decision, but by doing this nether can India change the realities regarding the Kashmir dispute nor can be the international status of this issue affected.
The pro-freedom leader of Kashmir said that there is no way left with India except that now or later on they have to accept the ground realities of Kashmir issue. The role of the UNO in resolution of Kashmir issue will be very vital and both the countries are in need of it. The Hurriyat chairman expressed his hope that with the changing global scenario the role of UNO will emerge more important and this institution will not only show its presence but it will also play its role in resolving the other issues of the world which are danger to the peace of the world.
