Praising the GST Amendment Bill passed in the Legislative Assembly session, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the Mann government is continuously taking historic decisions to strengthen Punjab economically. Good results from these decisions will be seen in the coming days. Addressing the media at the Chandigarh party headquarters on Thursday, AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that the GST Amendment Bill will increase the revenue of Punjab and it will also be convenient for the people while shopping outside Punjab.

Kang said that now when the people of Punjab will use 03 code to buy goods outside the state, then its tax will go directly to the account of the Punjab government. He appealed to all the Punjabis to use code 03 while shopping outside Punjab. Kang also praised the decision of the Mann government about One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) and said that it is a very commendable step. Under this scheme, about 95 percent of the pending cases of businessmen will be resolved.

Under the scheme, full tax, interest and penalty will be waived off on old bills up to Rs 1 lakh. Whereas in pending bills of Rs 1 lakh to 1 crore, 50% tax and 100% interest and penalty will be waived. Till now the government has a total of 61,805 such cases. He said that this step will make a big difference to the small traders and businessmen in Punjab and the tax collection of the government will also increase. He said that the Mann government is continuously encouraging small businessmen to pay taxes by taking such decisions due to which the tax collection of the Punjab government is increasing significantly.
