Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora lead the torch relay grand reception of the torch relay of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan-2 which today reached Sangrur district. The relay was warmly welcomed by the administrative officials, politicians and sports enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that this was a golden opportunity when talented sportspersons would be able to showcase their sports skills by getting registered for various sports competitions to be held at block, district and state level.
He said that the sportspersons of Sangrur district had demonstrated their skills in the sports competition held last year under the Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan with much enthusiasm. He added that this time there was a need to participate with even more enthusiasm so that the dream of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to promote sports culture in the state could be turn into reality.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal encouraged the players and said that they were proud of the courage of the Sangrur players and hope that the experienced players will take the leading position in these games with their practice and talent.
Cabinet Minister Aman Arora handed over the torch to Arjuna awardee Padma Sri Sunita Rani (athlete), long jump national champion Navreet Singh Virk and Asian Games wrestling champion Palwinder Singh Cheema. Under their leadership, a large caravan of sportspersons passed through different parts of Sangrur city for awareness and left for Mansa District through Sunam Udham Singh Wala. It is worth mentioning that as SDM Bhawanigarh Vineet Kumar warmly welcomed the torch relay on its arrival in Sangrur District at Channo.
Among those who welcomed the torch relay were SSP Surendra Lamba, Additional Deputy Commissioner (d) Varjeet Walia, SDM Navreet Kaur Sekhon,Chairman Medium and Small Scale Industries Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Chairman Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Ashok Kumar Lakha, Chairman Improvement Trust Harpreet Singh Peetu, Chairman District Planning Committee Gurmail Singh Gharachon, Senior Leader Mandeep Singh Lakhewal, OSD of Finance Minister Tapinder Singh Sohi, Chairman Market Committee Sangrur Avtar Singh Elwal, Chairman Market Committee Dhuri Rajwant Singh Ghulli and District Sports Officer Navdeep Singh were also present.
