To raise awareness about the environment & ecology among the masses, the District Health Society Doda organized numerous activities in the District to celebrate World Environment Day 2023 on the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution".The main programme was held at Trauma Hospital Khellani in Block Assar, which was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr Ab Hamid Zargar as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the CMO said that day is dedicated to educate people about the environment, promote tree plantation and clean surroundings.He advised youth to voluntarily take part in keeping their surroundings neat and clean, adding that “We all should do our bit to keep this universe safe from every type of pollution."

CMO Doda on this occasion also urged the participants and civil society to protect the mother earth by planting more and more trees as well as replacing the single use plastic with biodegradable matter, so that mother earth can be saved and remain sustainable.

Sanitary Inspector Zaheer Gattu, as the Resource Person explained about the significance of the day and how to beat the plastic pollution for the safety of the environment and healthy life.A plantation drive was also launched by the CMO in coordination with other stakeholders. 

A pledge was taken by the audience to protect and conserve the environment.Other than the Health Department, the programme was attended by Principal GHSS Khellani, staff of Forest Department, local PRIs besides ASHAs of the block.
