Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday paid obeisance at holy shakti peeth Sri Devi Talab Mandir on the sacred occasion of Sri Ram Navami and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of state.

Felicitating the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of 'Ram Navami’, the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, the Chief Minister said that this sacred festival symbolizes the unity of mankind and brotherhood, besides inspiring the people with the moral and spiritual values preached by Lord Rama (Maryada Purshottam).

He said that Lord Rama showed us the path of ideal and virtuous living to carve out a prosperous and harmonious society. Bhagwant Mann exhorted the people to follow the teachings of Lord Rama in their true spirit, as these were relevant even in the present materialistic society and can help rid the society of the yoke of evils.

The Chief Minister said that such pious occasions not only promote a sense of communal harmony, brotherhood and mutual understanding amongst the people but also shower bountiful joy and prosperity on them.

He appealed to the people to celebrate this auspicious day in a spirit of togetherness and bonhomie, rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and religion. Meanwhile at temple, Bhagwant Mann sought blessings from Maa Durga to serve the state more zealously and diligently.

The Chief Minister reached Sri Devi Talab Mandir complex in the afternoon to offer prayers and sought blessings of almighty to give enormous strength to him for serving the people of state with all humility and dedication.

Bhagwant Mann offered prayers to seek Mata Rani’s blessings to serve the people of the state regardless of caste, colour, creed and religion to create a harmonious society. He said that the ethos of love, brotherhood and harmony in the society will be maintained at every cost and will ever remain their top priority.

On the occasion Temple Management Committee honoured the Chief Minister.  Later on Bhagwant Mann also participated in shobha yatra to mark the festival organised by Sri Ram Navami Utsav Committee from Sri Ram Chowk.
