Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh Khalsa and his supporters clashed with Punjab Police in Ajnala near Amritsar. They marched towards Ajnala police station to protest the arrest of Lovepreet Singh who is popularly known as Toofan and master Baldev Singh who is arrested in a kidnap and assault case. Police personnel were clearly outnumbered by the protesters and they broke through the barricades of the police into the police station with swords and guns.

Amritpal Singh announced on February 22, 2023, that he and his supporters will be staging a protest outside the Ajnala police station and it will be turned into a fortress. A case had been registered on February 16 against him, Bikramjit Singh, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Rauke, Gurpreet Singh and 20 other unidentified persons at Ajnala police station.

Who Is Lovepreet Singh Alias Toofan?
Lovepreet Singh is a native of Gurdaspur district Punjab. He was arrested by Ajnala Police in connection with the kidnapping and thrashing of a man on the complaint of Varinder Singh. The case was registered against Amritpal Singh, Bikramjit Singh, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Rauke, Gurpreet Singh and 20 other unidentified persons under various sections of IPC.
Although Toofan has been charged with kidnapping, his family has retained that he is innocent and has been wrongfully linked to the case. Yet, they acknowledged that it was into volunteer work with a group led by Amritpal.

As Lovepreet Toofan is a member of Amritpal's Waris Punjab De organisation, the leader broke police barriers outside the Ajnala police station in Amritsar with swords and pistols, demanding the release of Amritpal's close aide.
