Kathua , 20 Jan 2023

In a move to highlight the socio-economic and development profile of the District, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey released “District Statistical Handbook for the year 2019-20 & 2020-21” and report of Evaluation study on “Pardhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” at a brief release ceremony held in his office chamber, the other day.

Both the publications viz District Statistical Handbooks for two financial years and study on PMMSY (implemented by Department of Fisheries in the district) were conducted and compiled by District Statistics & Evaluation Office, Kathua.

The DC appreciated the efforts of all the staff members of DSEO Office Kathua involved in conducting and finalising the twin publications/study report.

While highlighting the findings of the study, the DC expressed hope that the suggestions/recommendations such as opening of more departmental outlets at block and district level will facilitate the marketing, cold storage and transportation and making available the feed/seed of trout fish to the fish rearing farmers.

He asked the Fisheries Department to utilize the study for widening the scope of the coverage of the PMMSY scheme in the district. “The data contained in the publication “District Statistical Handbook” will serve as an effective tool for the Researchers, Planners, Students and other users in their respective fields,” he added.

District Statistics & Evaluation Officer (DSEO), Ranjeet Thakur informed that study also suggests for the enhancement of financial assistance to the beneficiaries of low cost houses in hilly areas keeping in view the carriage and overhead charges of the construction material.

He further informed that the publication and a detailed study report will be made available on Official website of Administration (https://kathua.nic.in) as well as on Official Website of DSEO, Kathua (dseokathua.in).

Pertinently, District Statistics & Evaluation Office is the Nodal agency for collection, compilation and dissemination of important Statistical data in the District.

The Evaluation study on the topic “Pardhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” was allotted by the District Level Evaluation Committee (DLEC) for the year 2022-23 in which all beneficiaries of two Circles of Fisheries Department namely Bani and Hiranagar were selected for collecting primary data by conducting door to door survey by the officials of DSEO Office, Kathua.

CPO Kathua, Uttam Singh besides staff members of DSEO Office were present during the release ceremony.
