Adolescent Health Day-2023 was today celebrated here in the District Hospital Kishtwar by Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karykarm (RKSK) councillors in a simple but impressive manner. During the programme, councillors imparted awareness to the peer educators about the RKSK scheme and various aspects of adolescent health.

The councillors introduced peer educators about community-based interventions to realize their full potential by making informed and responsible decisions related to their health and well-being and by accessing the services and support they need to do so.

A total of 80 educators are engaged under the RKSK programme in the District. The key principle of this programme is adolescent participation and leadership, Equity and inclusion, Gender Equity and strategic partnerships with other sectors and stakeholders.

The RKSK defines an adolescent a person with 10-19 years of age in urban and rural areas including boys and girls married or unmarried. The scheme targets to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition among adolescent girls and boys besides reducing the prevalence of iron deficiency by providing Weekly Iron Folic Acid supplement under WIFS programme.

An interactive session was held during the programme wherein a number of health related doubts were cleared by councillors.
