A comprehensive review meeting of the Samagra Shiksha programme was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma to assess the progress of ongoing educational initiatives and infrastructure development across the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the physical and financial progress achieved under various components of Samagra Shiksha including infrastructure development, the upgradation of schools, the provision of teaching-learning materials and the strengthening of basic facilities in government institutions.
Special emphasis was laid on the timely completion of sanctioned works and the effective utilisation of allocated funds. Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Sanjay Dogra presented a detailed report on enrolment trends and the functioning of various schemes under Samagra Shiksha, such as KGBV Type I and Type IV (100-bedded girls' hostels), Seasonal Centres, Vocational Education and several other interventions.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all Zonal Education Officers to ensure regular monitoring of schools, improve learning outcomes and maintain proper coordination with field functionaries. The Executive Engineers from the R&B Divisions of Marwah, Paddar and Kishtwar briefed the chair on the status of ongoing construction works, including additional classrooms, boundary walls and toilet blocks.
The DC instructed them to expedite pending works and adhere strictly to quality standards and timelines. Addressing the officers, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of providing quality education and safe infrastructure to students, especially in far-flung and remote areas of the district.
He directed that all bottlenecks be resolved on a priority basis and that regular review meetings be conducted to track progress. Among those present were Chief Planning Officer Kishtwar Akhil Thakur, Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Sanjay Dogra, all Zonal Education Officers and Executive Engineers of the R&B Divisions of Marwah, Paddar and Kishtwar.
