Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kishtwar, Amit Kumar today inspected the  Labour camp sites at Matta and Malipeth and took stock of basic facilities being provided to the workers of APS Hydro PVT  LTD- one of the contractor for construction of NH-244 Package 4.

During the visit, ALC Kishtwar interacted with the workers residing in the camps and listened to their grievances and problems being faced by them in day to day life. 

The main demands of the workers were   timely payment of wages, implementation of Central Minimum wage Act, payment of Overtime wages, adequate mess facilities, provision for adequate bedding and heating in camp and safety facilities at workplace.

The ALC Kishtwar assured that the principal employer and the contractors involved shall be directed to provide all the basic facilities to the workers at the earliest. Later, the ALC interacted with company authorities along with the representatives of the Workers Union and discussed the issues being faced by the workers.

The APS Hydro PVT LTD authorities were directed to resolve the issues within a time bound manner to mitigate the suffering of workers and facilitate smooth work on the National Highway.

The Project authorities assured ALC that to take concrete steps to meet the highlighted demands of the workers in a time bound manner. Regarding pending salaries, authorities assured to release the same within one week.

They also assured to provide all basic facilities to workers in the Camps and at work place.
