The district health department launched the 34th dental care fortnight at District Hospital here today. Civil surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur inaugurated the special fortnight for free dental examination and treatment in the government health institutions across the district.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Adarshpal Kaur said that this fortnight will be held from November 14 to November 29, during which special camps will be organized in various government health institutions of the district and 155 dentures will be provided free of charge to the needy patients and dental treatment will also be free.
Emphasizing the need for denture care, the Civil Surgeon said that tooth dentures should be properly fitted and be kept in the water at night. Avoiding the use of tobacco etc. is very important. She said that dental care should start from childhood itself. Dental examination is important every three months. Sometimes we overlook dental pain as a trivial matter, but the small inconvenience can be huge and the tooth can be damaged. In such a case, the doctor should be consulted on time.
Giving out details, District Dental Health officer Dr Parneet Grewal said that during the fortnight, services for check-up and treatment for most of the dental ailments including tooth decay, cavities, gum diseases, darkened tooth etc. will be given free of cost at the government health institutions.
She said there are no fees even for registration. District Dental officer Dr Parneet Grewal, Senior Medical officer Dr HS Cheema, Dr Vijay Bhagat, Dr Kirti Arora, Dr Harpreet Kaur, Dr Shivani Chuchra and other staff were present on the occasion.
