GCOE Jammu organises Dogra Ethnic Fest to celebrate Season of Festivals

Hosts Exhibition of Eco Friendly Products

To celebrate, ‘Seasons of festivities,” the Cultural club and Eco Club of Government College Of Education, Jammu today organized Dogra Ethnic Fest 2022.For the day-long fest, participants were invited from all the schools of Cluster University of Jammu and Government Degree Colleges.

Different events like exhibition of Dogra Handicrafts by Shilpkari Bazar, Dogri Attire and Eco friendly products for celebration of Diwali by Samast Eco Alternatives and Mehendi Art competition marked the event.The exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal of the College Prof. Aekta Gupta.Speaking on the occasion, she reiterated the fact that the time has come to revive the Eco friendly festivals and Ethnic Dogra culture. 

She also added that the young generation needs to know about our way of living that was always in sync with nature. She also appreciated the efforts of  Sanchaita Pradhan and Arnab Khajuria of Shilpkari Bazaar, a start up for the promotion of Dogra Handicrafts and Rajat Salgotra owner of Samast Eco Alternatives (deals with products that are made from cow dung and discarded temple flowers). 

She also expressed her gratitude to all young artists from different colleges and schools of Jammu regions for participating in the event.The event was coordinated by Prof. Shalini Rana, Dr Mansi Sharma, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Tahira Shah, Prof. Sunita Devi and Dr Sushma Bala. Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Neeraj Verma, Prof Shapia, Prof Seema, Dr Shalini Sharma, Prof Anuradha Chaudhary, Prof Anuradha Seth.

The student organisers played a key role in organizing the event.  Monali, Shallu Khajuria, Mehak,   Anu Bagal, Arushi, Komal, Yashika and Rashmi Singh, conducted the event meticulously.Prof. Anju Bala, Prof. Jyoti Parihar, Prof. Radhika Prof. Sushma, Prof. Vinay Lata were also present on the occasion.

The judges for the Mehendi competition were Ms. Talvinder Kaur and Ms Shivani Arora from Nature's Saloon. The program was sponsored by Saloon.The students who won the prizes in the Mehendi Art competition were Meenakshi Bhau of GDC Khour  (first prize), Nidiya Bandral of Vimal Muni College of Education, Vijaypur (Second prize) and Shagufta of GCOE Jammu won third prize.

The students who won the prizes in Nail Art competition were Manpreet (SPMR College) First prize, Anamika Bandral (Vimal Muni College of Education Vijaypur) second prize and Ishika Gupta (Vimal Muni College of Education, Vijaypur).
