To promote a nutritious diet and add traditional healthy millets in daily diet, a training session was organized for all the participating schools of ‘Girls India Project’ by Chandigarh Commission For Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) in collaboration with School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Shivalik Public School, Sector-41, Chandigarh today, where Chef Vikas Chawla gave tips on healthy cooking with a variety of Millet recipes.

A talk on ‘Millets: Superfood for the healthier future’ was given by Dr. Poonam Khanna, Assistant Professor from the Department of Community Medicine & School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh and an awardee of ‘Best Scientist in Nutrition. She threw light on the history of Millets in detail and also the importance of involving Millets in our daily food.

CCPCR aims at empowering school girls as ‘Budding Chefs’ with the motivation of adopting healthy dietary habits and saying a big no to junk food. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR highly appreciated the mass participation of teachers and students. All the participants requested the Commission organize more training sessions. Students also participated in cooking delicious dishes.

Mrs. Gurkiran Kaur, Principal, Shivalik Public School thanked the Chairperson, CCPCR for organizing such a wonderful training session. Mr. Kartar Singh, Legal Consultant, Mr. Arvind K Dhawan, Senior Assistant, CCPCR, Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR, Mr. Shekhar, Clerk, Ms. Asmita, Intern, CCPCR, and staff of the school were also present during this event.
