DC Urges Farmers To Hand Over Possession Of Lands For Amritsar-Bathinda-Jam Nagar Expressway

Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh on Tuesday urged the farmers, whose lands to be acquired for Amritsar-Bathinda, Jam Nagar Expressway, to provide possession of their lands to authority concerned so that this ambitious projects could take off in coming months.

Chairing a meeting with the representatives of farmers associations, members of Road Sangharsh Committee and Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee here at the DAC, the Deputy Commissioner apprised them that as early they would hand over the possession of their lands for project, the process of amount disbursement was also started in days. 

He also assured that all their genuine concerns would be taken care of by the Administration.Referring to a 10-point demand letter given by the farmers in meeting, Jaspreet Singh asked the NHAI to work out for ensuring passages towards their fields falling on both sides of the proposed  expressway. 

The Deputy Commissioner appealed the farmers that if there was any difference in amounts of award money, they should prefer arbitration, which is the best suitable solution. He also directed SDM Shahkot to review the progress of possession process on a mission mode so as to take the lands earmarked for the expressway spreading in 12 villages of the Sub Division.

Farmers representative Ratan Singh Kakar Kalan and others raised the issue of compensation to be disbursed in one go besides taking prior consent of all stakeholders in the cases, where partition was already got done with their mutual understanding.

Deputy Commissioner reiterated that their all concerns would be sympathetically   considered. It was also informed that agriculture land spreading in several villages was falling on the route of this express way and necessary steps we’re being taken to have possession of these lands.

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included SDM Shahkot Lal Vishwas, DRO Jashanjit Singh and officials of other line departments besides the members of farmers association namely Sarvinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Gurbinder Singh, Avtar Singh, Dalbeer Singh, Gurjit Singh, Jaspal Sharma and others.
