With an aim to obliterate the drug menace from the state, the Aam Aadmi Party government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a special crackdown drive against drug peddlers since it formed the government in Punjab almost four months back.In a similar drive on Saturday, Punjab Police raided several places of drug smugglers and arrested many people associated with a drug mafia gang.

Praising the action of Punjab Police against the drug mafia, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had promised the people of Punjab before the elections that the AAP government will wipe out drug mafia from Punjab.

"Bhagwant Mann Govt's major crackdown to weed out menace of drugs from the holy land of Punjab, a massive search operation is being carried out by Punjab’s top cop himself. @ArvindKejriwal ji had guaranteed strong action against drugs before the elections. Drugs te Mann da Vaar!, " he wrote in a tweet.

MP Chadha said that after the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, now the nexus between the drug mafia and politicians was broken. Now, perpetrators are not getting any protection from Punjab Police and politicians. Soon, Punjab will become a drug-free state and the illegal drug trade will end completely.

Lashing out at the opposition for patronising the drug mafia, Chadha said that during the previous governments, drug abuse was rampant as police and politics gave protection to the drug mafia. However, the AAP government cracked a whip on the drug mafia.Senior AAP leader and chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that the Mann government was committed to making Punjab a drug-free state.

Following the directions of CM Mann, Punjab Police is relentlessly working to wipe out the drug mafia by putting smugglers behind bars. Under Mann government, people will be lodged in jails those who sell drugs or patronise smugglers under Mann government.
