Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur participated in the State Level function of 400th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji organised by Gurudwara Sahib Shri Guru Singh Sabha Shimla in coordination with Himachal Pradesh Government at the Ridge, Shimla, today.

While extending greetings on 400th Prakash Purab the Chief Minister said that Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji is an epitome of courage, sacrifice and valour. He was popularly known as Hind di Chaddar, who sacrificed his life to protect human values, ideals and principles. 

He said that Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji taught the people the lesson of sacrifice and endurance, therefore this day is also known as Shahidi Diwas. The sacrifice of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji has been an inspiration for many generations and the people would always remember his supreme sacrifice, he said.

Jai Ram Thakur said that Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji was the ninth Guru of Sikhs and is also renowned to propagate the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. He excelled in Gurubani, religious scriptures along with weapon and horse riding. He believed in compassion towards every living being, as hatred only results in destruction.

The Chief Minister emphasised on the teaching of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji and said that he often preached that all big achievements are result of small efforts. He urged the people to adopt his inspirational ideals and walk on the path of his teaching.

Chief Minister was welcomed and presented with a memento by Shri Guru Singh Sabha on the occasion. Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap and Pratibha Singh, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, MLA Vikramaditya Singh and representatives of Gurudwara Sahib Shri Guru Singh Sabha Himachal Pradesh were also present on the occasion.
