The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today ordered the fresh survey of Blue Card holders (beneficiaries of Atta-Daal scheme) to include all eligible poor families within the ambit of this scheme.

Presiding over a meeting to review welfare schemes, Mr. Badal said that he was getting reports that certain eligible poor families were left out during the old survey of the scheme and were unable to get the benefit of the scheme. He asked Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. S.K. Sandhu to issue directions to all Deputy Commissioners in the state to launch a fresh survey of the scheme to include all eligible poor families in the scheme. He said that a door to door survey should be organized in every village and town to ensure that no poor family was left out of scope of this scheme.

Releasing Rs. 180 crore for the Atta-Daal scheme, the flagship scheme of SAD-BJP Government, Mr. Badal said that it was only scheme in the country under which 16 lakh families were getting 35kg of wheat and 4 kg of pulses under highly subsidized rates. Mr. Badal said that it should be ensured that every beneficiary family of the scheme should get the allocated ration by the 7th of every month.

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Mr. Gagandeep Singh Brar, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. D.S. Grewal, Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu and Mr. Ajay Mahajan, both Special Principal Secretaries to Deputy CM.
