A special meeting of District Development Council (DDC) Kishtwar was today convened here at the conference Hall of DC office complex which was chaired by Chairperson, District Development Council Kishtwar Pooja Thakur.

Vice chairperson DDC Saima Shabir Lone, BDC Chairpersons, DDC councilors, CEO  District Development Council/ADDC Kishtwar Sham Lal, ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, GM DIC Khalid Hussain Malik,  CEO KDA Inderjeet Parihar, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Kishtwar Zakir Hussain Wani, DPO Kishtwar Sunil Bhutyal besides other district and sectoral officers attended   the meeting.

At the outset, the CEO District Development Council (ADDC)   Sham Lal apprised the chair about the physical status of works under District Capex 2022-23, Area Development Plan, SOS and other schemes.

While informing the meeting about the block-wise  status of works under Capex 2022-23,he informed that out of proposed 441 SOS works , 163 have been completed till date and work on the remaining  was in full swing and will be completed within one month time.

He further informed that out of total 1950 works taken up under Area Development Plan-2022-23, 1041 works have been accorded administrative approval, 329   tendered out and 153 have been completed so far.

The Chairperson asked the executing departments to expedite the process of estimation and tendering of rest of the projected works so that the same were taken up and completed well in time and the unnecessary lapse of funds was avoided.

Meanwhile, the District Development Council unanimously passed two resolutions for further submission to higher authorities. The first one pertained to the filling of vacant gazetted and non-gazetted posts in different departments, ‘which are hampering the developmental tempo in the district’.

Through the second resolution, the Council sought implementation of Memorandum of understanding (MOU) between govt of J&K and Pakal Dul and other Joint Venture Corporation for meeting the obligation of providing 3% of power generated from Hydro electric power projects to the Locals free of cost under  Local Area Development plan.

Pertinently, at present only 1% free power is provided to locals under the LAD plan. The house passed the resolution seeking the committed 3% power to locals under LAD to meet the electricity needs of the district.

Other issues like tapping of tourism potential in the district, meeting water scarcity particularly in the town and it's adjoining areas, timely tendering of works projected under ADP, expediting the forest clearances for various roads, were also discussed in the meeting after detailed deliberations. The Vote of thanks was presented by ACP Kishtwar and the meeting came to an end.
