District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today asked the officers to adopt good governance practices while redressing the grievances of the general public.He said this while chairing a public grievances redressal camp here at Plangarh organised as a part of the weekly Block Diwas.Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar; DDC Member Rajouri, Sai Abdul Rashid; DDC Member Thanamandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir; BDC Plangarh, Shamim Akhter; DFO, Arshdeep Singh; ACD, Vijay Kumar; SDM Thanamandi, Vikas Dhar; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; DSHO, Dr Sarfraz Naseem Chowdhary; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; DYSSO, Sunil Samyal and others district and sectoral officers attended the event.

The DDC also inspected stalls set up by different departments at the venue and interacted with the staff who apprised him about a number of services being provided by respective departments to the general public.During the event, the public and panchayat representatives apprised the DDC about a number of issues and demands of their areas. They demanded new road projects, up-gradation of schools, better health services, paucity of staff in Government institutions and other related issues.Specific issues projected during the event included implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission; Girls hostel Plangarh to be made functional, timely payments under MGNREGA, work on Rajouri to Thanamandi road to be expedited, inclusion of the left out beneficiaries under PMAY-G etc.

Other issues included completion of work on road from Khori to Jamra, dilapidated condition of road from Thar to Bhassa, old age pension, effective measures to be taken to curb the menace of drug abuse, shortage of staff in HSS Dodasan Balla etc.Some more issues were mega awareness camps on livelihood generation schemes to be organised in every panchayat; exaggerated electricity bills, sanctioning of a High School at Lah etc.The officers of different departments also replied to the queries raised by the public during the event and also educated them about the schemes and programmes being implemented in the district and motivated them to avail the benefits of the same.ADDC, Pawan Kumar, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted a number of Govt schemes meant for the welfare of the general public and advised them to avail the benefits of the same.He also advised the officers and panchayat representatives to work in tandem for the overall development of the district.

The DDC gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands projected by locals and assured that all their genuine concerns would be redressed in a phased manner.Addressing the event, the DDC said that the District Administration is striving hard to take the district towards development by utilizing its potential in different sectors and all possible measures are being taken to provide the Govt services at the doorsteps of the general public.Terming the public participation necessary for achieving the goals of development, the DDC said the District Administration is committed to ensure the equitable development of all the regions of the district and active cooperation from the general public is a must in this regard.Expressing the strong resolve of the  District Administration to ensure transparency and accountability in its functioning, he also said concrete measures are being taken to make Govt services more transparent and easily accessible to the public.

Stressing upon the officers to adopt Good Governance practices while redressing the public grievances, the DDC asked them to adopt innovative practices and creative solutions to solve the difficulties of the common people.He also urged the PRIs to play a crucial role in the development of their areas and ensure that all the developmental works being executed in their respective jurisdictions are completed within the set times while adhering to quality parameters.While addressing the issues and demands of the general public, he also exhorted the officers to take immediate measures to mitigate the problems of the people highlighted during the public outreach programme.

Responding to the issue of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, he informed that there are 293 schemes in the district under Jal Jeevan Mission and the estimated cost of these schemes is Rs 1723 crores. He also said that all the households of the district would be provided functional tapped water connections with the completion of work on these schemes.He also appealed to the public to get themselves registered under SEHAT schemes to avail the necessary benefits under the scheme.While highlighting the harmful effects of drugs on health, he also appealed to the youth to utilize their potential in the right direction and stay away from drug abuse.The DDC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned departments for taking necessary steps to meet the genuine demands of the local people so that they don't face any inconveniences.
