Jang-E-Azadi Memorial To Go Solar As DC Reviews Progress Of Setting Up Of 350 KW Plant At Rs. 1.43 Crore

Says, Move Aimed At Making This Iconic Structure Self-Reliant In Terms Of Power Generation Besides Cutting Electricity Bill By 50 Percent

In a significant move towards making Jang-E-Azadi Memorial self-reliant in power generation, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer Ghanshyam Thori today visited the memorial where he reviewed the progress of setting up the 350 KW solar plant inside the premises. The project would cost Rs. 1,43,37,166 and would be completed by one and a half month.Divulging the details, the DC said that the main motive of setting up this plant was to channelize the green energy in the form of Solar energy to generate the power. He said this plant could be of great use for the memorial in catering to its power requirements. Mr. Thori said that this step would usher a new era of unprecedented development in the Jang-E-Azadi complex  by making this mega structure self-sustainable in power production.

The Chief Executive Officer further said that the setting up of this plant would also cut the burden of electricity bill by nearly 50 pervent as it would supply the clean power to all the complex generated by the solar plant. He mentioned that the plant would prove to be instrumental in augmenting the power supply besides ensuring optimum utilisationof this complex.Directing the officials concerned to complete this project within stipulated time frame, Mr. Thori said that he would be reviewing the progress on a daily basis and any kind of inordinate delay in this task would be unwarranted. 

He said that the memorial was a beacon for perpetuating the glorious contribution of Punjabis in national freedom struggle. He also said that supreme and unparalleled sacrifices made by the martyrs of the freedom struggle have been showcased in a proper perspective in this memorial. The DC further said that this memorial infuses the spirit of nationalism and patriotism amongst the youngsters thereby enabling them take pride in the country's rich legacy. He appealed to people that everyone should visit Jung-E-Azadi Memorial since Covid-19 pandemic has subsided adding that it is important for us to visit this place to remember the contribution of freedom fighters and pay our tributes to them.
