Chandigarh , 17 Dec 2021

Elections of 2022 is currently a hot topic of discussion in Punjab. With it round the corner, 117 members of the Legislative Assembly in Punjab will be elected. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to declare the exact dates and schedule for the polls, however, it is estimated to happen in the month of February or March 2022. The ruling party was elected in the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections and the Congress which won 77 out of 117 Assembly seats with Captain Amarinder Singh as the Chief Minister. Captain Amarinder Singh resigned on 18th  September 2021 and Charanjit Singh Channi was roped in as the Chief Minister. Now with the political parties in Punjab have entered into a neck-to-neck competition, to win over the trust of their jaanta; we are trying to understand which party will cater into the needs and expectations of the people of the state. The actual war of votes is all set to happen between the ruling party, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Recently, for the very same CM of Delhi, Arvid Kejriwal made his presence seen through a rally in Punjab! Political leaders are giving their level best to convert maximum votes in their favour. With making promises in their overwhelmed 'bhashans', to going in every corner and gullies of Punjab; these politicians seem to go to all the lengths for winning the throne. Parties like INC, AAP ,BJP, SAD and many more are going to stand against each other. The state polls somewhere predict that there are high chances of AAP to win the elections as Arvind Kejriwal promise in his tweet that in Delhi he gave free electricity to women and now in Punjab, if his party wins he will do the same here. The Aam Aadmi Party also promises to transfer Rs 1,000 per month into the account of every woman. On the other hand, BJP is trying to win the election on the basis of them empowering Sikhs as their tag line for elections in Punjab is 'Nava Punjab, Bhajpa De Naal.' Efforts are taken to get the majority votes and the competition is tough as the political parties may be into alliances in order to be in power. The majority of the polls from several media houses, right from India Today, Business Standard, Republic World speculates that there are high chances that AAP might rule over Punjab this time. However, nothing can be predicted as of now as the alliances and the number of seats won by the majority will rule. The reports of Hindustan Times speak that 14 lakh men and 12 lakh women voters will decide the fate of the contestants in 14 constituencies of Ludhiana in the 2022 assembly polls.
