In a bid to provide shelter to all people, the Punjab government is allocating 5-marls plots to all homeless people across the state and to provide maximum benefits under the scheme to beneficiaries, the Jalandhar administration has intensified its efforts, here on Tuesday.Chairing a meeting with administrative officials here, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ghanshyam Thori, has asked the concerned officials to accelerate the allotment process of 5-marla plots so that maximum people may avail the benefit of this welfare scheme in the district.He informed that as many as 13306 beneficiaries have been identified so far in the district including 2210 in Jalandhar East, 195 in Jalandhar West, 1174 in Adampur, 1447 in Bhogpur, 714 in Nakodar, 1156 in Phillaur, 1017 in Shahkot, 2304 in Nurmahal, 774 in Rurka Kalan ,1980 in Lohian Khas and 335 beneficiaries were identified from Mehtapur Block for allotment of 5-marla plots in Jalandhar.

DC instructed the Sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) to put their sincere efforts to implement this scheme diligently. He told the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPOs) that any kind of laxity will not be tolerated.On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Jaspreet Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (urban-development) Himanshu Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarjit Bains, SDM-1 Harpreet Atwal, SDM-2 Balbir Raj Singh, SDM Shahkot Lal Viswas, SDM Nakodar Poonam Singh, Assistant commissioner (General) Hardeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Under training) Ojasvi Alankar, BDPO Hardeep Singh among others were present in the meeting.
