DDC Chairman Poonch flags off trekking expedition

Chairperson District Development Council, Poonch, Tazim Akhter today flagged off a one day Trekking Expedition comprising 250 trekkers here from Dakbunglow Poonch.   DDC Vice Chairperson, Ashfaq Ahmed; Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet; SSP, Dr. Vinod Kumar; CEO Tourism, Dr. Mohd.Tanveer;  Culture Officer, Dr. Alamdar Adam and other concerned officers were present. Organised as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the day-long trekking expedition was organised by Poonch Development Authority in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism, District Administration and J&K Academy Of Art Culture and language.The young trekkers from across the district participated in the trekking expedition and traversed through the trekking route connecting Loran, Sultanpatri, Nandi Chool and their adjoining areas.Earlier, the DDC Chairperson, interacted with the young enthusiastic trekkers and advised them to keep the environment neat and clean by not littering polythene and other things on the way as these pollute the nature.The Deputy Commissioner said that such types of events would provide an opportunity to youth to understand their ability, patience, and weakness and to improve their skills which would help them in their future.

During the camp, a colorful cultural  program was organized at Nandi Chool with the aim to introduce the trekkers with folk culture, especially folk Lores; folk geet and also to promote regional languages like Pahari, Gojri and Kashmiri.  During the lunch stopover, the trekkers and Public of the area enjoyed a lot and exchanged their ideas.The youth thanked the CEO Poonch Development Authority, District Administration Poonch, Directorate of Tourism Jammu and Special officer for cultural Activities Rajouri/Poonch  for making them a part of the camp and  aware about the potential of tourism, linked them with local folkLores, Geets in Regional languages and  the history of this place.BDC Chairperson Loran, Shamima Akhter and  DDC Member Riaz Chowdhary Naaz also accompanied the trekkers.Principal Govt. Degree College Poonch, Prof. Mussarat  Hussain Shah alongwith other faculty members, Superintendent of Police  Choudhary Liaqat Kalis, CDPO Jhangir Khan, Cultural Officer, Dr. Alamdar Adam,  Tehsdar Haveli, Bashir Anjum Khatak,  Tehsildar, Mandi,  Shezad Ahmed khan, BMO Mandi, Dr. Nusrat  Bhatti,  Nusrat Shah, Dr. Safraz Mir besides other dignitaries also trekked the whole day.
