Advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar reviews progress on implementation of JJM across J&K

Says Govt. committed to provide basic services to people living in rural areas

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today chaired a meeting to review the progress on implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at Civil Secretariat here.Commissioner Secretary Jal Shakti Department, M Raju; Mission Director, JJM, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah; Chief Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE), Jammu, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti (PHE), Kashmir, Chief Engineer I&FC and other concerned officials of the department in person and through virtual mode.Speaking during the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar stressed upon the officials that to carry out testing of all water sources for checking chemical parameters besides sedimentation problems or any other problems should be checked before hand for successful implementation of the scheme.The Advisor exhorted upon the officials that there should be no scope for laxity in implementation of JJM as it is a very prestigious project and the government is committed to provide assured basic services to the people living in rural areas and JJM is part of that.

Taking strong note of delay in completion of works, Advisor Bhatnagar directed them to maintain quality of work while implementing the scheme and exhorted upon them to complete the mission within the fixed timeline.The Advisor stressed upon the officers to ensure that the progress of providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in all Schools and Anganwadi centres should be completed by 12th August besides the data should be regularly updated on Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) portal.Advisor Bhatnagar also impressed upon the officers at ground level to maintain the quality of water as per BIS standards with regular quality check at the source. He further asked the officers to establish testing labs under National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) in all districts at the earliest so that the clean potable water is provided to the people.During the meeting, Mission Director, JJM gave a detailed presentation on implementation of JJM in Jammu and Kashmir.
