Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today informed that green belts would be developed properly on both sides of old GT Road, starting from Sherpur Chowk till Jalandhar Byepass chowk. He said that green belts exist in some areas along the road, but they are not maintained properly.Accompanied by Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, Bharat Bhushan Ashu today took round on the road in an e-rickshaw. He directed the MC Ludhiana officials to ensure that the existing green belts along the old GT Road should be well maintained.He informed that the Mayor has been directed to depute senior MC officials to look into the matter so that work on all green belts starts soon. He said that the work on some of the green belts along this road has already started, while on the remaining would start shortly.Bharat Bhushan Ashu assured the residents that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is committed for providing best infrastructure to its residents. He also assured that all the existing green belts in the city would be properly maintained, besides many more green belts are already being developed in other parts of the city.
