District SAS Nagar gets 8 Tandrust Punjab Sehat Kendras after virtual inauguration by Chief Minister Punjab, Capt. Amarinder Singh, informed Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan who joined the programme through video conference from the District Administrative Complex, Mohali. Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner informed that in order to provide quality healthcare services to the patients at their doorsteps especially in rural areas, State government is converting all the sub centers of the state into Health & Wellness centers christened as Tandrust Punjab Sehat Kendras in a phased manner. In line with this 3 Health & Wellness centers in Gharuan and 5 in Derabassi including one each at Saneta ,Kurdi, Garanga, Issapur, Dharamgarh, Jawarpur, Karala and Bhankarpur have been upgraded and renovated. “By December end, another 34 upgraded Health & Wellness centers/ Tandrust Punjab Sehat Kendras would be ready to provide an array of medical services to the people,” he added.Manned by Community Health Officers, Multipurpose Health Workers (Male and Female) and ASHA Workers, these centres would provide facility of 27 free of cost medicines, 6 diagnostic tests and Tele-consultation facilities. Besides, OPD services for Hypertension, diabetes etc would also be extended, said Deputy Commissioner.Wellness activities like Yoga and Health awareness sessions like Trans-fat free festivals, Tobacco control etc. would also be undertaken at each center ,every week.Deputy Commissioner said that the Tandrust Punjab Sehat Kendras would also help combating COVID 19 surge in case of second wave of the spread of virus and made an appeal to people to strictly adhere to the safety protocols.During the digital launch event, several health workers shared their experiences in managing the Covid and treating Covid patients, including Dr. Rajender Bhushan from Civil Hospital Mohali who shared his experience of treating the COVID positive patients, initial apprehensions, challenges and success attained with the support of District Administration and the State Health Department. Pertinently, the Doctors, paramedics and local luminaries joined the launch ceremony from various Health & Wellness centers,including Mr. Deepinder Singh Dhillon District President Congress Committtee from Issapur and Mr. Kanwarbir Singh Sidhu from Kurdi in Gharuan.
