The Civic amenities in SAS Nagar are set to undergo a radical transformation with the booster dose of Rs.25 cr given to the district under Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Programme (PUEIP) phase-II, said Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu after attending the digital launch of programme by Captain Amrinder Singh, Chief Minister Punjab.

The Minister joined the launch through video conference from Mohali while over a thousand others joined from 32 different places in the district.He said that the Government of Punjab has initiated Punjab Urban Environment Improvement Programme as an umbrella programme where various state and central government schemes have been synergized to provide State of the art Urban Infrastructure, citizen facilitation and efficient service delivery system to the urban population of Punjab. It is an endeavour to strengthen the municipal services and civil infrastructure including water supply, sewerage services, e-governance initiatives, resilient cities, urban transportation, public health and sanitation, green belts, etc.For the comprehensive development of the state, Rural and Urban development should go hand in hand, said Sidhu. He said that just about a week ago Smart Village Campaign-II was launched in the district which brought over a 100 crore rupees for rural development. Now, catering to the urban needs development works under PUEIP phase-II would also be simultaneously taken up, ushering an all-round development.

Mohali Municipal Corporation is to undertake 15 works worth Rs 10 crore including the Upgradation of Market , Phase-1 at a cost of Rs 21.69 lac , Upgradation of Market , phase-2 with Rs 39.03 lac, Upgradation of Market and Green Belt phase-6 with Rs 26.45 lac, Upgradation of Market , sector 70 at a cost of Rs 31.13 lac, Upgradation of Market , sector 71 with Rs 26.41 lacs, Beautification of Traingles/Entry points Zone lll with Rs 24.67 lac, Zone lV with Rs 25.27 lacs, Zone l in Rs 26.45 lac, lI with Rs 24.47 lacs, Construction of playground for children in different parks Zone I at a cost of Rs 61.46 lacs , Zone II with Rs 41.18 lacs, Zone III with Rs 26.22 lacs and Zone IV with Rs 75.84 lacs. Besides, LED lights for Basket ball volleyball , badminton and lawn tennis play ground in various places of SAS Nagar would be installed at a cost of Rs 35.23 lacs . The major highlight in the construction of an ultra modern, fully airconditioned Community Center at Phase 3B1 at a cost of  Rs 6 crore.Besides Rs.15 crore would be spent on various works to be undertaken by Municipal Councils namely Construction of Gulabgarh Road and Tehsil Road in Dera Bassi at a cost of 105.08 lacs, 3 P/F of interlocking tiles from RK Public School towards  Hella Company Shakti Nagar Dera Bassi 131.61 lacs, construction of  road from G.T Road  to Dappar Colony Ward no: 17,Lalru, Raising and strentghning of Kharar-Bassi road within Municipal Limit,MC Kharar, development of street from Gohar road to main Morinda road upto rail way bridge Kurali, paving of road along Storm sewer, village Bhahat, zirakpur, paving of Godown area/vivekanand public school zirakpur  and  from Preet Palace towards Punchkula Sec. 19, The construction of road  in Main Bazar Banur , Construction of street interlocking paver from Gujjar Bhawan up to MC Limit ward No 02 Nada, NayaGaon among others.
