Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella, accompanied by Nodal Principal Dr. Ravinder Tickoo paid a visit to Government College for Women Udhampur to review the ongoing development projects here this morning.Principal of the college apprised the Commissioner Secretary of functioning of the college, existing infrastructure, total strength of students, the courses being run in the college, activities and programmes being conducted at the institute. She also briefed him about the institutional plan for the development of college and facilities to be provided to students. She also highlighted her serious concern for the development of college.Commissioner Secretary discussed in detail about the ongoing projects, the infrastructure and functioning of the institution. He stressed upon the skill development courses and directed the staff to take serious initiative in this regard. The Secretary showed his keen interest in the skill course in fashion technology proposed by the college principal and stressed that in the current times all other colleges should also opt for the skill courses to prepare the students to become entrepreneurs. He had a detailed interaction with the staff of college at the grassroots level to know the conditions of the college to revamp the system for the larger interest of the student community and college.He also visited various blocks of the college.Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Udhampur Viqar Ahmed Giri apprised the Commissioner Secretary regarding availability of government land for further expansion of the college.Among others, Principal GDC Boys Udhampur Prof. Subhash Chander besides representatives of executing agencies of R&B and Housing Corporation were also present.
