Kick-starting the Mission Fateh campaign in the district, Girish Dayalan, Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar said, “Awareness generation is the most potent tool in combating novel  corona virus. Therefore, Mohali Administration would undertake an array of activities to encourage people to be more careful in the coming days.”Interacting with the media after  rolling out the field publicity campaign by sending off Public Address system equipped publicity vehicles to rural and urban areas of the district, Dayalan said that publicity  vehicles would traverse through maximum pockets of the district and covey the message of observing all precautions to halt the onslaught of the virus. This would be a weekly  activity and would continue for three weeks. Hoardings have also been installed at prominent places in the district to drill the message into the minds of people.Detailing other  activities, Deputy Commissioner informed that door-to-door awareness generation at grass root level shall also be carried out through Corona Warriors such as ASHA workers,  Anganwadi workers and the Guardians of Governance in the rural areas. These workers are being presented Mission Fateh badges to recognise their contribution during the last  three months and to encourage them to carry on playing a crucial role in fighting the pandemic. Education department is also being roped in to apprise the students about  inherent motive of Mission Fateh through their online classes.Outlining the difference between corona warriors and mission warriors he informed that all the officials, doctors and  frontline workers of the Government who are making earnest efforts in battling the virus are Corona Warriors. In addition, persons who were symptomatic and managed to beat  the virus and fully recover are also Corona Warriors.Whereas, Mission Warriors are citizens who observe all precautions and encourage other people to also do the same. In  order to get the status of a Mission Warrior a person will have to go on to the COVA App and register for the same.“Many citizens have stood out in spreading awareness about  the pandemic. Mission Fateh aims to identify and honour such persons as Mission Warriors. I appeal to all citizens of Mohali register themselves on Cova App as a Mission  Warrior and earn maximum points by simple activities such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distance, encouraging people to download Cova App. The idea  is to build a force of 1000 Mission Warriors at the state level and rewarding them with Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates on the basis of the points earned.” Distribution of  badges as well as the T-Shirts to the exceptional warriors would be undertaken during the course of ground activities. He said that a committee has been constituted at the district  level comprising of the officials of the police and civil administration, under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner. The Committee comprises of Civil Surgeon,  Deputy Director Local Government, the Municipal Commissioner, the DEOs, Deputy Coordinator NYK and the District Public Relations Officer. “They brainstorm the activities  required for awareness generation and implement the same; they will also identify the corona warriors and mission warriors and honour them.Making an appeal to people he said,  “don’t let complacency creep into you through the belief that the virus is not as harmful as it was made out to be. Exercise all caution and motivate others to follow suit, efforts of  the government, no matter how monumental, are bound to fail without public support. It is, therefore, the duty of every citizen towards, his family, his neighbours and the nation, to  continue to remain vigilant at all times.”He called upon them to wear mask, wash hands frequently, maintain social distancing, boost the morale of COVID patients and their  families, Download Cova app and register as Misson Fateh warriors and support in generating maximum awareness.Earlier in the day, the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation  Kamal Garg and SDM Mohali Jagdeep Saigal flagged off the 25 publicity vehicles from the District Administrative Complex.
