District Administration Kupwara today flagged off a group of 35 stranded labourers of Bihar state, from Government Higher Secondary School, Kupwara.Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone said that these stranded migrant labourers were willing to go back to their home, adding that district administration has made all arrangements for their transportation from Kupwara to Katrah, wherefrom they shall go to their native places.The ADC said that 50 labourers from U P and 26 from west Bengal shall leave in next two days from the same venue and further informed that out of 1800 labourers stranded in the district, as many as 700 had registered themselves with Labour Department Kupwara for return to their native places.He said, of these 700, only 110 labourers have shown willingness for return to their homes since the development tempo got re-accelerated in the district and due to this reason most of the labourers changed their willingness to return to their homes. In another meeting Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir today convened a meeting with Engineers of PDD , PHE and Irrigation departments and asked them to accelerate the developmental tempo in the sub division.He directed the concerned officers to strictly follow the guidelines and stressed upon the concerned agencies to monitor the execution of ongoing works in the subdivision.Among others tehsildars and representatives of various areas and senior citizens attended the meeting.
