In order to decongest the movement of vehicular traffic on Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway near PAP Chowk Railway Over Bridge (ROB), Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder  Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today gave in-principle approval for eight laning project of this ROB by National Highway Authority of India  (NHAI). Both the officers today held a brainstorming session with the NHAI officers the District Administrative Complex, Mr Sharma and Mr Bhullar said the NHAI would construct  four additional lanes along with ROB.  They said that the widening project of ROB has also been submitted to railway ministry by NHAI and a team of railway has also visited the  site recently.They said that besides regulating traffic on the flyover between Rama Mandi and PAP with widening of ROB, they said that NHAI would also construct two  roundabouts on PAP Chowk and Rama Mandi Chowk for the streamlining the traffic with the provisions of traffic lights.They also asked PSPCL department to coordinate with the  NHAI for ensuring speedy shifting of some electric transmission lines near the site.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police also said that this was the need of hour  to ensure smooth and hassle free drive to commuters.They also asked the NHAI officers to make sure that drenches/ drains along with the retaining wall of flyover were made  underground to make the movement of traffic hassle free and smooth. Both the officers also said that they would regularly monitor the progress of these projects by holding such  meetings in the coming days too.On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Vishesh Sarangal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Naresh Dogra, ADCP Mr Gagnesh  Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr HS Bhalla, Project Director NHAI Colonel (Retd) Yogesh Chander and others were Presents.
