Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal today directed the district officials to expedite the development works being carried out in Bathinda city and complete all the  development projects in a stipulate time. Presiding over the meeting, Manpreet Singh Badal said that Government Rajindra College is a prestigious government educational  institution of Bathinda city and the state government would extend every possible support for the improvement of its infrastructure. He asked the Deputy Commissioner Mr. B  Sriniwasan to take necessary action in this regard.Directing the education department officials to prepare an estimate for the reconstruction of Government School at Mall Road,  the Finance Minister said that 10 schools have been equipped with modern facilities at a cost of Rs. 17.12 crore in Bathinda. He said that Punjab Government has a dream to  provide world class education facilities in the State.The Finance Minister informed that the construction of the Bus Stand, multi-level parking, auditorium and stadium in the city  would be started soon.Reiterating Punjab Government's commitment to make available quality infrastructure to the people, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal said that the tender for the  construction of Railway Over Bridge at Amarpura Basti at a cost of Rs. 49.05 crore has been alloted and this bridge would be executed in 18 months and the case of RUB on Ring  Road has been forwarded to Railways for estimate approval.

In the meeting convened by the Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal Deputy Commissioner Mr. B. Sri Niwasan, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Birkamjit Singh  Shergill, SDM Mr. Amarinder Singh Tiwana, Tehsildar Mr. Sukhbir Singh Brar, Executive Engineer Mandi Board Mr. Vipan Khanna besides officials of Public Works Department,  Water Supply and Sanitation, Local Government Department and Chairman Municipal Improvement Trust Mr. KK Agarwal, Mr. Arun Wadhawan, Mr. Baljinder Thekedar, Mr.  Pawan Mani, Mr. Rajan Garg, Mr. Jagroop Gill, Mr. Asok Pradhan, Mr. Balraj Singh Pukka etc. were also present. After the meeting, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal walked down the  street to meet the shopkeepers and customers. Thanking the people of the city for their support during the lockdown, he urged the people to follow the precautionary measures  strictly to contain the spread of COVID-19.He said that the major markets of the city would got facelift and interlocking of roads with uniform footpaths is our next goal. While  directing to start work in this regard immediately, he also asked the  officials to carry out the construction work in such a manner that the work of the shopkeepers would not be  affected.Mr. Badal asked the Municipal Commissioner Mr. Bikramjit Singh Shergill to complete the ongoing works of the Municipal Corporation on priority basis. He also informed  that the work of water treatment plant would be completed next month while the project of laying 66 km new pipeline to supply drinking water to the new areas of the city at a cost  of Rs. 16 crore was also in the priority list of the government.Meanwhile, the shopkeepers of the city expressed grief over the demise of Mr. Gurdas Singh Badal, father of the  Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal and they recalled their sweet memories with 'Das ji'.

Kalu Ram got a tricycle

Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal noticed the dilapidated condition of the tricycle of Kalu Ram, a tailor sitting in front of a shop in Post Office Bazaar, he immediately  instructed the authorities to arrange a new tricycle for him. Later on, the Cabinet Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal visited the Dhobi Bazaar. He was presented a letter of  appreciation by the Traders Association. On the occasion the representatives of the association thanked Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal for the good arrangements made by the state  government in Bathinda during the covid crisis.
